MANAGEMENT PERFORMANCE OF RIO 2016 OLYMPIC GAMES: An analytical review on Olympic Legacies

The Olympic Legacies have become one of the main reasons to justify hosting the Olympic Games, but it is not easy or simple to evaluate the performance of these legacies because it requires a methodology that can evaluate the planning, execution and outcome of all actions, programs and projects adopted by the host cities for the benefit of society. Many experts have discussed and researched the legacies of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, but there are limited studies that offer a proposal for evaluating the performance of the delivery and fulfillment of the legacies. This work had this objective, to apply a methodology capable of evaluating and obtaining conclusions that help to understand if the Olympic legacies became a reality in these Games. Through this work it was possible to evaluate and measure about 31 Olympic legacies that were created because of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The conclusions reached were very positive, offering an objective perspective so that the legacies presented in this research continue to be observed, studied and evaluated, as well as serve as good examples for the next Olympic Games, keeping the Olympic flame alive.
