The MaiTai Legal Striped Bass Snag & Drop rig was created in the wake of regulation changes to striped bass fishing to keep the effective snag & drop technique for fishing for striped bass legal. This rig consists of a barrel swivel attached to a heavy mono leader. Halfway down that leader is a large dropper loop with an inline circle hook attached. At the bottom end of the leader is a snap for attaching a weight.
How to use: Attach a 2 to 3 oz sinker to the rig and cast into a school of bunker or other large baitfish. The denser the school the better. Snag a baitfish with long sweeps of your rod. Once a baitfish is snagged, let it sit and hang on for a striped bass or other gamefish to find your bait.
Perfect for striped bass, but will work for bluefish, or any other gamefish you want to present a large live bait on a circle hook to. Compliant with Atlantic striped bass regulations.
